Screening

Prior to being invited to register with Jobshop UK all applicants are screened. This avoids building false hopes and wasted time and effort by both Jobshop UK and candidates. We are always open and honest with candidates.

Interview

As specialists in Commercial recruitment our experience demonstrates that in-depth interviewing and thorough testing are fundamental to good recruitment practice. At Jobshop UK we use behavioural based interviewing, our view is that it more accurately reflects a candidate’s personality, working style and behaviour. Answers are usually based on actual experience, incidents or events and candidates are less able to offer text book answers. The whole interview and test procedure lasts between 1½ - 2 hours after which time we have an excellent understanding of the candidate’s skills, requirements, attitude and ability. Our finding at interview is cross-referenced by taking up 2 references from former employer(s).

At interview stage we also obtain a copy of identification (usually a passport and/or driving licence).

Testing

All candidates are required to complete a spelling and grammar test. Also, they are tested on Microsoft computer packages, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint as appropriate. Skills are assessed at basic, intermediate and advanced levels on each package. Other tests include knowledge of accounts, speed and accuracy tests in Word Processing and Data Entry, alpha/numeric.

Referencing

Candidates are always referenced by contacting previous employers to discuss abilities and performance. Wherever possible we will obtain at least two references per candidate.

N.B. When registering with us please don’t forget to come dressed for an interview and bring ID (passport or birth certificate), details of referees and proof of professional qualifications. Please allow at least one and half hours to complete the registration process.
